Poison is still used in a number of Member States to kill stray cats and dogs. Can the Commission outline what action is being taken to ban the use of poison for the killing of animals?

The welfare conditions of stray cats and dogs in the EU, referred to by the Honourable Member, are not governed by EU rules but fall under the sole competence of the Member States.

In the light of the above, the Commission is not considering initiatives in this area.
