Is the Commission considering including pets, and in particular stray dogs and cats, in the European Animal Welfare Act?

The Commission has so far not decided whether to work on the possible adoption of a proposal for a new legislation on animal welfare.

In the context of the EU animal welfare strategy 2012-2015 the Commission decided to perform a study on the welfare of dogs and cats involved in commercial practices.
